I get bored with most educationally focused books but found this one to be a delightful exception! It’s written without the usual jargon and the author has a great sense of humor. The situations are practical and the strategies are realistic. I’ve seen her present and think the book adds even more detail to her fantastic presentations. Veteran teachers and novice teachers alike would get something out of this book – just hope even more administrators read it too!!

This is a terrific book for beginners in co-teaching situations as well as for teachers who have been doing co-teaching for some time. It is easy to find the help you need, and is laid out in a manner in which teachers, paraprofessionals and administrators can use it as a tool to make co-teaching successful. It has humor plus very practical information that you can begin using immediately in the classroom. Finally a book with practical strategies for a secondary school.

This book is a must have for any special education teacher and general education teacher who are thinking about co-teaching! Every school should have a copy of this book to use as a reference guide for successful collaboration. Dr. Murawski uses light humor to present her ideas. Her analogy that successful collaboration is like a successful marriage is brilliant! The book is an easy read and it offers many reproducibles as well as additional websites for support. The book offers many tools to get collaboration started and even demonstrates scenarios for you. This book offers many tips for dealing with teachers who aren’t as willing to begin a co-teaching relationship.I would recommend this book to anyone who wants the opportunity to help all students be successful in the classroom!

Although this book is based on best practices and current research literature on coteaching, it is so practical and fun that all coteachers will find helpful tools and tips inside! Dr. Murawski has a gift for writing in a fun, funny style while still providing new and useful information for her readers. EZ reference pages throughout the book provide easy to use checklists, reproducibles, and resources for all teachers. Using the analogy of a marriage, Dr. Murawski illustrates the importance of preparation and finding the right relationship match, setting goals and behavioral norms, coplanning (with tips for making it especially efficient and effective), approaches to coteaching, and even ideas for differentiation! This book is a MUST HAVE for all coteachers!!!

Collaborative Teaching in Secondary Schools: Making the Co-Teaching Marriage Work provides a light look at co-teaching comparing it to a marriage and discussing elements such as handling difficulty content, personality conflicts, setting roles, and more. With alternative ideas for co-instruction approaches, it’s a winner for any education collection.
